Plagiarism was always an issue in education. Years ago students were coping each others works or materials from the books. Often students were handing in works written by those already finished the education. However these forms of cheating were found difficult and required certain effort from the student.
Currently, with the progression of the Internet and availability of various academic and non-academic resources students have wide variety of options on how to cheat. They range from academic article databases such as Emerald to the web sites especially developed to offer students essays on various topics.
Many students are, therefore, tempted to use materials from other sources instead of spending time to write something original. Teachers find it extremely difficult to detect cheaters because students use materials from different sources, often restricted from public domain. Companies selling essays are making profits and general educational standard is falling.
Can we do something about it? YES, we can!
